The most cost-effective way
to remove oil from water
Since 1968, Abanaki® has been serving
our clients around the world with skimmers for all applications;
from local job shops to giants like Toyota and Boeing, from 1 gph
to 200 gph, from food processors to remediation to metal mills and
beyond. Have oil on water? We have your skimmer!
The Abanaki Advantage
- Belt materials available include
corrosion-resistant steel, specially engineered polymer, high
temperature polymer, Elastomer and Fuzzy®.
- Wiper material can be Nitrile, CRV,
ceramic impregnated/UHMW hybrid, and stainless steel.
- Most housings utilizes a corrosion-resistant
powder coated finish; 304 stainless steel housings may be available.
- Abanaki skimmers will perform in
a full range of liquid water temperatures, with pH between 3 and
13.
- Belt length is specified by
the user; some length restrictions apply.
The standard drive on all units is an electric motor and gear
reducer. Other drive types available.

Mighty
Mini® SST
The ideal solution to unwanted oil
in coolants and parts washers therefore extending the life of cooling
and wash water! The Abanaki Mighty Mini SST can remove 1 to 2 gallons
of medium weight oil per hour (depending on belt selection). Its
stainless steel construction enables it to operate in harsh chemicals
and heat while its integrated timer lets it run only when needed.
The Mighty Mini SST is designed to minimize water content in the
disposed oil; however the optional Oil Concentrator® will further
reduce the water content in the oil to less than 2%. This is a tremendous
cost saving if the oil is to be recycled or disposed.
It is compact making efficient use
of available space... it fits underneath most CNC machines as well
as inside parts washers. The small footprint even allows the Mighty
Mini SST to fit through the bung hole of a 55 gallon drum! With
belts specifically selected for your application available in lengths
of 6, 12, 18 and 24" (see Belt Selection page), this skimmer
has endless application possibilities.
The Mighty Mini SST weighs in at only
8 pounds and the ease of installation make this skimmer the most
versatile of our line. Use it here today and there tomorrow as it
installs in just seconds.

Grease
Grabber®
Efficient Removal of Floating Grease and
Heavy Oil
The Abanaki Grease Grabber is a dependable and effective means of
removing floating grease and oil from water, under the most demanding
conditions. The Grease Grabber makes use of the differences in specific
gravity and surface tension between oil and water. These physical
characteristics allow the skimmer belt to attract grease, oil, and
other hydrocarbon liquids as the belt passes through the surface
of the water.
The skimmer belt specifically selected for your
application (see Belt Selection page). Texture pinch rollers pull
the belt over the idler pulley and through the angled wiper blades,
where grease is removed before passing through the pinch rollers.
The grease is rolled off into a heated hopper, which maintains fluidity
for easy drainage through a 4" ID discharge port. Belt tension
is maintained by the weight of a free riding tail pulley. The tail
pulley is tethered to the underside of the Grease Grabber to prevent
accidental loss.
- Removes floating grease and oil
from water
- Elevates skimmed grease up to 100
feet or more, for easy discharge into drums
- Removes up to 160 gallons of grease
per hour
- Reduces fluid disposal costs
- Helps meet government requirements
for water discharge
| Features
- Designed for the most demanding conditions
- Corrosion-resistant materials
- Lifts skimmed grease up to 100 feet or more
- Customized belt lengths and materials
- Belt and wiper materials unaffected by most
greases and oils
- Removable guards and other features make
maintenance a breeze
|
Advantages
- Large, 160 gph, removal capacity
- High temperature capability
- Requires only a 28" X 9" (71.12cm
x 22.86cm) mounting area
- Maintains skimming efficiency with fluctuating
fluid level
- Fast set-up, easy cleaning, and minimal maintenance
- Operates in turbulent liquids (with optional
tail pulley, belt cage and tether assembly)

Rugged Construction for Harsh Conditions - The
construction of the Grease Grabber has a rugged simplicity that
is designed to last 20 years or longer. Belts are specifically selected
for your application (see Belt Selection page). It can handle liquids
between 32F and 212F, with pH between 3 and 13. The motor, gear
reducer, and powder coated finish of the weldments give the Grease
Grabber exceptionally long life, even under the harshest conditions.
Typical Applications
The Grease Grabber is designed for extremely demanding applications,
such as drainage pits in primary metal mills, where heavy loads
of grease and oil accumulate. To handle this kind of load, the Grease
Grabber uses an oil-filled gear reducer having bronze gears and
ball bearings to drive pressure rolls with tractor treads that rotate
the belt. This heavy duty drive train will elevate skimmed grease
up to 100 feet or more for easy discharge into drums. The drive
unit can be mounted on a flat surface, or on a boom that suspends
the Grease Grabber over the pit. An optional remote control switch
also is available.
- Drainage pits in primary metal mills and factories
- Underground tanks
- Wastewater sumps
- Parking lots, garages, and service facilities
- Truck, locomotive, and other mobile equipment
washing facilities

Oil
Concentrator®
More Complete Oil/Water Separation
The Abanaki Oil Concentrator provides virtually
complete oil/water separation for recycling or disposal of either
liquid.
Under most operating conditions, Abanaki skimmers
pick up oil with only small traces of water. However, as surface
oil is reduced to a thin layer (1/16 inch thick or less), more water
(or coolant) may be picked up along with the oil. When used in tandem
with an oil skimmer, the Oil Concentrator solves this problem by
providing final phase separation. The result is water (or coolant)
available for recycling, and virtually water-free oil for disposal.
The Oil Concentrator is non-electrical and contains
no moving parts — it simply receives liquid directly from
the skimmer. Based on the principle of gravity separation, the Oil
Concentrator tank comes in three sizes so that there is adequate
dwell time for the oil and water to separate. Water discharge is
through a tube that has an open end near the bottom of the Concentrator,
while oil flow is through a separate drain port near the top. As
additional liquid enters the Concentrator, water and oil are forced
out through their respective disposal tubes.
Installed at the discharge end of the oil skimmer,
the Concentrator comes complete with mounting bracket, removable
sludge screen and drain plug for easy cleaning. An optional thermostatically
controlled heater is available for use with thick oils, or when
the application is in freezing temperatures. (A heater should not
be used in environments where explosive fumes might be present.)
Abanaki recommends the use of the Concentrator with all oil skimmers.
It increases the efficiency of the skimmer and reduces costs associated
with oil disposal.

water-free oil for disposal

complete
